Committees (2025)
DOHaD Canada is a national organization dedicated to advancing research, education, and policy related to the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD). The organization aims to improve health outcomes by understanding how early-life environments impact long-term health and disease risk. To achieve its vision and mission, DOHaD Canada has established five specialized committees that work collaboratively and report regularly to the advisory council to achieve its vision and mission.
The five committees are:
- Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDII) Committee
- Trainee Development Committee
- Scientific Program Committee
- Engagement, Communications and Outreach Committee
- Education and Training Committee
Together, these five committees play integral roles in advancing DOHaD Canada’s mission by addressing different facets of the organization’s objectives. By promoting inclusivity, supporting trainees, facilitating scientific exchange, enhancing communication, and providing education, the committees ensure a comprehensive approach to improving health outcomes. Regular reporting to the advisory council enables coordinated strategies and alignment with the organization’s overarching goals, ensuring that all efforts contribute effectively to DOHaD Canada’s vision.
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indignity Committee (Co-Chairs: Dr. Deborah Sloboda and Dr. Kozeta Miliku)
The EDII Committee aims to develop and maintain a dynamic and inclusive organization where the principles and practices of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity are harmoniously woven into the foundation of DOHaD Canada. Their mission is to recognize, challenge, and dismantle systemic barriers; promote diversity; create inclusive spaces; and support Indigenous knowledge and relationships, while upholding the values of Belonging, Dignity, and Justice. By ensuring that all programs and initiatives are accessible and respectful of the diverse populations across Canada, the committee works to eliminate barriers and foster an inclusive environment that values the contributions of all members. Through these efforts, the EDII Committee plays a crucial role in integrating EDII principles into all aspects of DOHaD Canada’s activities, advancing the organization’s mission and vision.
