Dr. Kozeta Miliku
Dear DOHaD Canada members,
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kozeta Miliku will join Dr. Deb Sloboda as the DOHaD Canada Council’s co-Chair of the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDII) Committee.
Drs. Miliku and Sloboda will be working together in the coming months to form a committee of society members (so look out for that call if you want to join!). They will also be focusing on developing and implementing an EDII strategy for our society.
Dr. Miliku, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. She is also the Clinical Science Officer of the CHILD Cohort Study, one of the largest nationwide birth cohorts in Canada.
Dr. Miliku is an active DOHaD researcher and has been engaged in many service activities for DOHaD Canada. She previously held the co-chair position of the DOHaD Canada Council Trainee and Development Committee, and was also the ECR co-chair of Trainee and Networking Committee of the International DOHaD 2022 World Congress. Dr. Miliku is a member of the International DOHaD Society Workshop Committee and the Nutrition Policy for Chronic Disease Prevention at the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.
Dr. Miliku’s research program focuses on identifying risk factors that influence the development of multimorbidity, employing a life-course approach. She also teaches an undergraduate course on vitamin and mineral metabolism. The ultimate goal of Dr. Miliku’s work is to inform clinical and public health initiatives to reduce the burden of chronic disease.
